The government says it's too early to accurately assess the COVID-19 situation and it needs to further observe developments.
This comes as daily virus cases have fallen to just over 300 on Monday.
The government will comprehensively review the situation including whether last week's daily tally of 400 to 500 cases was a temporary phenomenon or a shift to another surge, and then review an adjustment in social distancing measures.
In a Monday briefing, Health Ministry spokesperson Son Young-rae said it's difficult to determine whether the rise in cases last week was temporary or represents a shift.
He also noted the smaller number of tests conducted on Sunday compared to weekdays and that more observation is necessary regarding virus trends.
Meanwhile the government will hold two public debates this month to discuss revisions to the current social distancing scheme. The first session is scheduled for Tuesday.
The spokesperson added that talks will also continue with related ministries on how other quarantine measures can be strengthened when existing restrictions are eased, such as the 9 p.m. business curfew.
