Justice Minister Park Beom-kye has stressed the need to further polish and advance tasks to reform powerful agencies, saying reform of the prosecution - a demand of the people - has just begun.
Park made the remark on Monday during his inauguration ceremony as he vowed to complete prosecutorial reform. The minister stressed the need to boost the prosecutors’ role in regulating illegal investigations.
In particular, Park said justice for all is necessary for sustainable justice to take root in society, adding that it can be realized through protecting human rights, due process and communication.
Ahead of Park’s inauguration, Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-youl visited the Justice Ministry in Gwacheon, Gyeonggi Province, and met briefly with Park. Yoon simply told reporters that he made the visit to extend his congratulations.
Park and Yoon are expected to hold discussions soon to share their views on the prosecution’s reshuffle.
