South Korea reported 305 new COVID-19 cases on Monday amid infection clusters across the nation.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency(KDCA) said Monday that the new infections raised the country's accumulated caseload to 78-thousand-508.

The daily figure dropped by 50 from the previous day and remained in the 300 range for the second straight day, mainly due to the fall in the number of people getting tested over the weekend.

Of the cases detected throughout Sunday, 285 were local transmissions, while 20 were imported.

About two-thirds of local cases came from the greater metro area, including 104 in Seoul and 89 in Gyeonggi Province. Other parts of the nation reported 81 cases.

As of Sunday, 379 cases were linked to educational facilities operated by the missionary society IM.

The death toll rose by five to one-thousand-425 with the average fatality rate at one-point-82 percent.

The number of critically ill COVID-19 patients stands at 225, down four from the previous day.
