The South Korean government will announce on Sunday its plans for social distancing levels that will take effect next month.

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters said on Friday that the announcement will be made at around 4:30 p.m.

Level Two-point-Five distancing is currently in place for the Seoul metropolitan area, and Level Two is set in the rest of the country.

The government had previously planned to make the announcement on Friday as the current levels are set to end on Sunday, but it was delayed amid a cluster connected to educational facilities run by a missionary society.

Authorities will also decide whether to extend a ban on gatherings of five or more people ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday in mid-February.
