From March, people in South Korea will be able to choose in advance when and where they will receive COVID-19 vaccines.
In the detailed vaccination plan announced on Thursday, the government said it will introduce an advance reservation system through which people can choose the place and time for inoculation.
The government said it will also strengthen monitoring of possible adverse effects of vaccines and compensate individuals if a causal relation between vaccinations and the negative effects is verified.
Treatment costs and nursing expenses will be provided to those displaying ill effects along with one-off compensation if disability or death is caused by the vaccines.
To minimize the damage from possible side effects, the government plans to select high-risk groups that may be susceptible to acute allergic reactions to vaccines such as anaphylaxis and closely check their condition before and after they are vaccinated.
