Freezing temperatures and strong winds are forecast for the remainder of the week, with some regions predicted to see heavy snow.
The Korea Meteorological Administration(KMA) forecast that a cold spell will grip the central and mountainous areas from Thursday afternoon to Saturday, with morning lows dipping below minus ten degrees Celsius. Gusty winds at a maximum of 90 kilometers per hour are also expected.
Rain or snow is expected in most parts of the country on Thursday but will let up in the evening. However snowfall will continue through Friday morning in the Chungcheong and Jeolla provinces and on Jeju Island.
As much as over ten centimeters of snow is expected in eastern Gyeonggi and Gangwon provinces and over 15 centimeters in inland eastern Jeolla Province, where heavy snow advisories could be issued. Other areas of the country will see one to five centimeters.
There could be storms with thunder and lightning in some regions. The KMA has urged caution on the roads as snow and frigid temperatures can cause icy, slippery conditions.
