South Korea's exports declined over 15 percent on-year in the first ten days of January, although outbound shipments per working day increased over five percent.
According to tentative data from the Korea Customs Service on Monday, the country's outbound shipments stood at eleven-point-two billion U.S. dollars in the cited period, down 15-point-four percent from a year earlier.
Compared to the same period last year, working days were down by one-point-five this year. Given the drop, the daily average exports during the ten-day period grew by five-point-eight percent.
Shipments of semiconductors inched down point-three percent, while those of petroleum products plunged 62-point-nine percent on-year.
Exports of ships and telecommunications devices jumped over 43 percent, respectively.
Shipments to the country's major trading partners shrank, with exports to China and the United States slipping five-point-six percent and three-point-eight percent, respectively.
