KOSPI Breaks 2,900 Threshold on 1st Trading Day of 2021

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) broke the two-thousand-900 threshold for the first time ever during trading on the first trading day of 2021. 

As of 10:47 a.m. Monday, the index hit two-thousand-900-point-21, which was up more than 26 points from the previous trading day’s closing last Wednesday. 

The index initially opened at two-thousand-874-point-50, just point-zero-four percent higher. 

Individual investors are leading the latest surge, having net purchased 826 billion won in shares. Institutional investors net sold 764-and-a-half billion won while foreign investors dumped some 77 billion won worth of shares. 

KOSPI has been posting new highs since first hitting an all-time high on November 23 last year.
