Overseas Sales of Eco-friendly Vehicles by S. Korean Automakers Surpass 300,000 Units

Overseas sales of eco-friendly cars by South Korean automakers surpassed 300-thousand units for the first time this year.

According to the auto industry on Sunday, Hyundai Motor and Kia Motors sold a combined 306-thousand-266 eco-friendly vehicles abroad during the first eleven months of the year, up 26-point-eight percent from a year earlier.

Electric cars took up a third of the total with 137-thousand units, followed by hybrid cars with nearly 119-thousand units, plug-in hybrids, and hydrogen electric cars.

The two automakers witnessed their combined sales of electric cars almost double from a year earlier in the cited period.

Earlier this month, Hyundai announced that it will fully electrify its lineup in major global markets by 2040, targeting a share of eight to ten percent in the global market of electric vehicles.
