The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) fell 44-point-48 points, or two-point-04 percent on Friday. It ended the week at two-thousand-132-point-30.

Seoul shares opened sharply lower before rising slightly, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street on fears of a resurgence in the COVID-19 pandemic.

In the United States, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down six-point-nine percent on Thursday to mark the worst decline since March 16.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell, losing eleven-point-00 points, or one-point-45 percent, to close at 746-point-06.  

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened seven-point-four won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-203-point-eight won.
