South Korea's national soccer team played Japan to a draw in a scoreless match at the finals of the first East Asian Championship held in Yokohama, Japan Wednesday, but scored enough tournament points to secure the winner's trophy.

Overall, Japan finished with 2 wins and a draw, but the Korean team managed a one point advantage in the final rankings for scoring more goals during the tournament.

The win is especially sweet for South Korea, as it avenged a loss by its under-20 team to Japan on Monday in the FIFA World Youth Championship in Abu Dhabi.
