The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) lost 21-point-12 points, or point-93 percent, on Thursday. It ended the day at two-thousand-246-point-13.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also shed two-point-68 points, or point-39 percent, to close at 685-point-57.
On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened four-point-one won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-168-point-seven won.
Markets will close on Friday and next Monday for the Lunar New Year holiday.
