South Korean baseball star slugger Lee Seung-yup has expressed his willingness to play for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Lee told reporters Saturday about his hopes to debut in the U.S. Major League as a Dodgers first baseman, following his meeting with Dodgers Manager Tommy Lasorda and General Manager Dan Evans.

Lee, who hit 56 homers last season for the Asian record, visited Seattle Mariners earlier in the week after arriving in the U.S. on Wednesday.

If the deal is sealed, the 27 year-old Lee would be following in the footsteps of pitcher Park Chan-ho. Park was the first South Korean to play in the Major League with the Dodgers in 1996. He is now playing for the Texas Rangers.
