Korean football association considering sacking head coach Coelho

The Korean Football Association is considering sacking the head coach of the Korean National Football team, Humberto Coelho, following two recent, humiliating defeats.

The South Korean national team was crushed by Vietnam and Oman in qualifying matches at the Asia Cup 2003 in Muscat. South Korea had advanced previously to the semi-finals of the 2002 World Cup.

A high-ranking official of the association told reporters Thursday that the defeats were not only the fault of the players, saying that it is natural for the head coach to be held responsible for his teams losses.

The official also said he and his colleagues will meet to discuss ways to improve on the poor performance of the national team upon their return home from Muscat, adding that discussing a replacement for Coehlo could be included on the meeting's agenda.
