South Korea's Choi Kyung-ju continued his ascent up the world's golf rankings Tuesday, climbing to the 14th spot on the back of his 6th place finish in last weekend's American Express World Championships.
Choi, who also climbed four notches to 29th in the PGA Tour money list with earnings of US$1.73 million, became the first South Korean to win on the European Tour with his victory at last month's Linde German Masters. He also has five top 10 finishes on the U.S. PGA Tour this year.
Meanwhile, in the PGA Tour's Official Rankings, the 33-year-old Choi moved up one notch to 15th place, a hair behind Justin Leonard in 14th.
Tiger Woods maintained lead in both the world rankings and prize money categories for the 217th straight week, with US$6.28 million in prize money.
