Domestic gasoline prices have risen for the 13th week, reaching the highest levels this year.

According to Opinet, a Web site on oil price information run by the Korea National Oil Corporation, the price of regular gasoline sold at gas stations nationwide rose by an average nine-point-three won to over one-thousand-650-point-two won per liter in the fourth week of September.

The prices have been on the rise for 13 weeks in a row. It is the first time the weekly figure rose above one-thousand-650 won mark since the third week of December, 2014.

The National Oil Corporation said that global oil prices have surged as oil producing countries failed to agree on increasing production and the U.S. resumed its sanctions on Iran.
