The “2018 Korea Sale FESTA,” a nationwide tourism and shopping festival, began a ten-day run on Friday, featuring up to 80 percent discounts online and offline.

Around 300 traditional markets, including Namdaemun Market, Seoul’s largest, will offer various bargains as well as programs and events for tourists.

Major department stores, including Lotte, Shinsegae and Hyundai, are holding special events featuring items made by small and medium-sized companies and social enterprises at reduced prices. 

Samsung, LG and other consumer electronics companies will offer up to 30 percent discounts for home appliances.

The annual event also includes discount prices and events at various franchise companies and at more than two dozen online shopping malls.
