The country's Internet-only banks have welcomed the National Assembly's passage of a bill Thursday, which allows nonfinancial firms to boost their stakes in Internet-only banks from the maximum four percent to 34 percent.

Kakao Bank said Friday it will take the law revision gravely and exert best efforts to increase consumers' economic utility by offering innovative, convenient and safe financial products and services.

K-Bank said it welcomes an opportunity to create more ICT-led innovative banks, then pledged to lead industry efforts to introduce services based on convergence of finance and ICT.

The easing of nonfinancial firms' stake in web-only banks is expected to drive innovative growth in the financial sector, especially by the nation's ICT-focused companies.
