The government is set to announce measures related to opening duty free shops at arrival terminals of the country's major ports of entry following the Chuseok thanksgiving holiday next week.

That’s according to First Vice Finance Minister Ko Hyoung-kwon Friday, who said his ministry will accelerate innovative growth policies that help create jobs.

Last month, President Moon Jae-in ordered officials to look into introducing arrival duty free shops, citing tens of millions of travelers who experience the inconvenience of having to carry their duty free purchases through their entire trip.

The president also pointed out that arrival duty free shops could raise domestic spending both by locals and foreign visitors.
