KOSPI Closes Thursday Up 0.14%

South Korean stocks were up Thursday as the U.S. proposed a new round of talks with China that could help de-escalate the ongoing trade war between the two countries.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Thursday rose three-point-31 points, or point-14 percent, closing the day at two-thousand-286-point-23.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also rose, gaining four-point-62 points, or point-56 percent. It closed the day at 830-point-95. 

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened six-point-two won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-122-point-four won.
