South Korean stocks were unfazed by the widely expected news that the Bank of Korea has frozen its key interest rate for August amid sluggish economic data and low inflation pressure.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) gained 15-point-53 points, or point-67 percent. It ended the day at two-thousand-322-point-88.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also gained, adding 12-point-50 points, or one-point-55 percent. It closed at 816-point-97.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened four-point-three won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-112-point-nine won.
