The Fair Trade Commission is known to have conducted an onsite probe into Google Korea related to charges of abusing market power.

The inspection is believed to have recently taken place at Google Korea headquarters in downtown Seoul over three weeks.

The company is accused of forcing a local online games firm to release its app only through the Google Play Store, which is Google's mobile application platform.

According to industry data, Google Play accounted for over 61 percent of Korea's app market last year, enjoying a dominant status.

The Fair Trade Commission also probed Google on alleged power-abusing practices in April during a wider inspection into fair trade practices involving developers and distributors of mobile games.
