The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) plunged to a 15-month intraday low shortly after Thursday's trading began as the Turkish lira crisis continued to affect market sentiment.

The KOSPI dropped 33-point-46 points, or one-point 48 percent, to reach two-thousand 225-point-45 as of 9:55 a.m.

The fall came as worse-than-expected Chinese economic indices further dragged down investor sentiment in New York amid the continued Turkish currency woes.

On Wednesday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell point-five percent while the Nasdaq dropped one-point-two percent.
