The National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, known as Nonghyup, will provide emergency funds of 500 billion won to support relief efforts on damages caused by the extreme heat wave.

The federation's chairman Kim Byung-won announced a set of support measures on Friday after inspecting affected sites in Naju, South Jeolla Province.

Nonghyup will also donate 400 million won raised by its employees as well as equipment such as water pumps, medicine and nutritional supplements worth around two-point-five billion won.

It will cooperate with the government to help stabilize the supply of agricultural and livestock products and also offer financial support to affected farms by way of favorable interest rates.
