South Korean stocks closed lower on Tuesday, following a mixed close in the U.S. and a sharp decline in crude oil prices which weighed on energy shares.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) closed down four-point-07 points, or point-18 percent, to close the day at two-thousand-297-point-92.

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also fell, losing five-point-99 points, or point-73 percent. It closed the day at 819-point-72.

On the foreign exchange, the local currency strengthened five-point-one won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-124-point-one won.
