S. Korea's Industrial Output Up 0.3% in May

South Korea's industrial output increased for the second straight month in May on a rise in exports. 
   
According to data from Statistics Korea on Friday, the country's overall industrial output increased point-three percent in May on-month, following a one-point-five percent growth in the previous month. 

Production in the mining, manufacturing, gas and electricity industries gained one-point-one percent on-month in May. 

The average factory operation rate increased one-point-five percentage points to 73-point-nine percent.  

However, retail sales, an economic indicator of consumption levels, slipped one percent on-month in May, dropping for the second consecutive month.

Facility investment also continued to decline, falling three-point-two percent on-month.
