The government says next month it will announce its major economic policy targets for the second half of the year.

An official of the Ministry of Strategy and Finance revealed the plan on Monday.

Late last year, when it announced its economic goals for 2018, the government said it would try to achieve an economic growth of three percent and create 320-thousand jobs.

It is highly expected the government will lower the job growth target to below 300-thousand while keeping the economic growth figure unchanged.

Earlier this month, Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon estimated that the number of jobs created in the first half was in the late 100-thousand range, which is seen by many as a disappointing figure given the government’s concerted efforts to create jobs.
