South Korea will invest two-point-six trillion won over the next five years to develop hydrogen-fueled cars and related infrastructure.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy said on Monday that it plans to supply about 16-thousand hydrogen vehicles and 310 charging stations nationwide by 2022.

The government made the decision in a meeting with industry officials and experts in Seoul. In the "Industry Innovation 2020 Platform" meeting, the government and related industry officials agreed to work together to establish an industry ecosystem for hydrogen cars, charging stations, and hydrogen fuel.

The funds of two-point-six trillion won will be spent on diverse projects until 2022, including projects to build hydrogen car factories and produce hydrogen buses.

The ministry expects the investment will create three-thousand-800 jobs by 2022.
