Shinsegae has won two licenses to operate duty-free shops at Incheon International Airport.

The Korea Customs Service(KCS) held a meeting on Friday and picked the retailer over Shilla as the new operator of two zones of duty-free stores selling cosmetic products and fashion items at the airport’s first passenger terminal.

Incheon International Airport Corp. had chosen Shinsegae and Shilla as better candidates over Lotte and Doota last month and submitted the shortlist to the customs office.

In February, Lotte returned the two licenses citing growing rent cost burdens. The two duty-free zones were known to be posting more than 900 billion won in combined annual sales.
