Fitch Keeps S. Korea's Rating at AA-

Global credit appraiser Fitch Ratings has retained its "AA-" rating for South Korea with an outlook of "stable."

In a statement issued on Friday, the agency said while tensions with North Korea have eased due to the inter-Korean and U.S.-North Korea summits, geopolitical risks continue to weigh on South Korea’s credit rating.

It also cited the nation’s rapid population aging and low productivity as long-term problems.

Fitch’s rating came after another rating agency Moody's Investors Service revealed on Monday that it was maintaining South Korea's rating at "Aa2,” also with an outlook of “stable.”
