The prosecution has launched an investigation into allegations that former senior officials of the nation's antitrust watchdog landed jobs at organizations related to their former duties.

Investigators from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office raided offices of the Fair Trade Commission(FTC) in Sejong City on Wednesday morning as part of an investigation into the allegations.

The investigators searched the FTC offices for evidence to back up suspicions that former top officials moved to posts at organizations related to their former duties after retirement.

They also searched for evidence in relation to suspicions that some FTC officials unfairly handled high-profile antitrust cases involving large companies.

The Public Service Ethics Act stipulates that for three years after retirement, senior government officials are banned from taking jobs related to their duties during the past five years.
