South Korea has approved a visit to North Korea by a South Korean civic group.

About 20 members of the South Korean Committee on the June 15 Joint Declaration recently filed a request for their plan to visit Pyongyang from Wednesday to Saturday.  

An official at the Unification Ministry said on Tuesday that the government has given its approval for 15 of the 21 applicants after considering the purpose of the trip and its possible effects on inter-Korean relations.

The committee members plan to discuss joint events with the North and ways to bolster private sector exchanges between the two Koreas.
