A newly released study finds South Koreans eat bread on average about every four days.

The average South Korean consumed 90 portions of bread over the course of 2016, up from 78 portions in 2012.

Bread has also moved up in the rankings from 21st to 15th place on a list of foods Koreans enjoy daily.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs says total sales at bakeries and pastry shops approached six trillion dollars in 2016, jumping nearly 50 percent since 2012.
