Labor groups gathered near the presidential office Monday to urge President Moon Jae-in to veto latest revisions to the minimum wage bill.

The gathering was led by the nation’s two largest umbrella unions, the Federation of Korean Trade Unions(FKTU) and the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions(KCTU).

The revision passed the National Assembly a week ago and is scheduled to be reviewed for possible endorsement during a Cabinet meeting slated for Tuesday.

Labor advocates call it “a change for the worse” that will effectively nullify the minimum wage system, and say a new revision should be drafted in consultation with labor.
