S. Korea's Economy Grows Revised 1% in Q1

South Korea's economy marked a one-percent growth in the first quarter, slightly lower than an earlier estimate.

According to preliminary data by the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Friday, the country's gross domestic product expanded one percent to 395-point-65 trillion won in the January-March period, rebounding from a point-two percent contraction in the previous quarter.

The latest growth figure is similar to the level recorded in the first quarter of last year, but slightly lower than the BOK's earlier growth estimate of one-point-one percent.

The central bank explained that investment in construction and facilities rose one percentage point and one-point-eight percentage points lower than its earlier estimate, respectively. Private consumption, however, increased one tenth of a percentage point larger than the estimate.

The nation's real gross national income expanded one-point-three percent in the first quarter from three months ago.
