South Korea's exports jumped 13-point-five percent in May from a year earlier, rebounding from a dip in the previous month.

According to preliminary data by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy on Friday, the country's outbound shipments reached 50-point-98 billion U.S. dollars last month.

It marked the third consecutive month that the country's exports topped the 50 billion dollar mark.

Exports posted a decrease of one-point-five percent on-year in April after growing for 17 consecutive months, but they rebounded last month after the brief decline.

Imports climbed 12-point-six percent on-year to 44-point-25 billion dollars.

In the first five months of the year, the country's cumulative exports reached a record 246-point-four billion dollars, up eight-point-two percent from a year earlier.
