A U.S. jury has decided that Samsung Electronics should pay Apple 539 million dollars in damages for infringement of design patents. 

According to a Bloomberg news report, jurors in a federal court in San Jose, California decided on the amount on Thursday. 

In the legal battle that began in 2011, previous rulings sided with Apple that Samsung Electronics indeed infringed on Apple's design patents. 

However, the U.S. Supreme Court sent the case back to a lower court, recognizing Samsung Electronics’ appeal that there were issues with the calculation of damages.
