Prosecutors began raiding the head office of Samsung Electronics as part of their probe into allegations that the electronics giant's repair service unit sabotaged workers' efforts to establish a labor union.
Investigators from the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office on Thursday began securing hard discs and other related data from the headquarters in Suwon, located some 30 kilometers south of Seoul.
It marked the first time for prosecutors to search the headquarters of the electronics firm as part of their investigation.
Prosecutors have found evidence that executives of Samsung Electronics gave orders to hamper the labor union activities of workers at Samsung Electronics Service Company.
Last Tuesday, an executive of the after-service affiliate was arrested for allegedly disrupting labor union activities.
The executive, surnamed Choi, was in charge of a division dealing with labor union affairs from July 2013 to March this year. He is suspected of leading a scheme to sabotage the establishment of a labor union at the company.
