Population Movements up 11.6% in April

The number of South Koreans who changed their residences to different districts increased in April, in line with the country's moving season.

Statistics Korea on Wednesday said the number of people changing their home addresses jumped eleven-point-six percent last month from a year earlier to 594-thousand.

An official at the statistics agency said the latest findings are closely linked to the housing factor, noting that the number of people moving within the same city or province was more than double those relocating to a different region.

According to data by the Land Ministry, the number of rental housing transactions including lump-sum deposit rent or jeonse homes came to about 153-thousand in April, up 14-point-three percent from a year earlier.
