Global credit rating agency Standard & Poor's(S&P) made a positive assessment of the South Korean economy citing reduced risks over North Korea.

Finance Minister Kim Dong-yeon told reporters on Thursday after meeting with a delegation from the agency that S&P has a favorable view of the progress in geopolitical risks over the past year and the government's plan to disclose foreign exchange intervention records.

Kim said, however, that there were still some concerns related to the job market.

The finance minister said the positive assessment doesn't mean it will immediately lead to an upgrade in the sovereign rating.
