Another Chinese City Lifts Group Tour Ban on S. Korea

Another major Chinese city has lifted its suspension of package tour programs to South Korea, as part of Beijing's measures to improve relations with Seoul.

According to a source in Beijing, the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Monday held a meeting with local travel agencies in the southwestern city of Chongqing and approved the move.

Last week, Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province, lifted the ban on the city's residents visiting South Korea in groups.

With the latest move, four Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shandong, have lifted group tour bans.

Seoul has taken issue with Beijing since it slapped a blanket ban on group tours to the country last March over the deployment of the U.S. THAAD antimissile system in South Korea.
