S. Korea's Labor Productivity Ranks Lower among OECD Members

South Korea's labor productivity ranked lower among member states of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

According to the OECD data, the country's gross domestic product per hour worked reached 34-point-three dollars last year, up one-point-four dollars from a year earlier.

The figure is steadily rising since it surpassed 30 dollars for the first time in 2011. Last year, the growth marked the largest gain since 2010 thanks to restructuring and a property boom.

However, the nation still placed lower in labor productivity compared to advanced nations, ranking 17th among 22 OECD countries last year in terms of the GDP per hour worked.

Compared to Ireland, which ranked first, the nation's GDP per hour worked is about 38 percent of 88 dollars.
