S. Korean Automakers' Sales Grow in April

Five automakers in South Korea posted a growth in their combined sales last month, both domestic and overseas. 

According to the companies on Wednesday, the combined sales by Hyundai Motor and its affiliate Kia Motors, GM Korea, Renault Samsung and Ssangyong Motor stood at 703-thousand-826, up seven-point-five percent from April of last year. 

It is the first time this year their combined sales marked an on-year increase both at home and abroad. 

Their combined domestic sales rose by one-point-one percent to 134-thousand-197 while their overseas sales shot up nine-point-two percent to 569-thousand-629. 

Hyundai Motor led the on-year sales uptick with a growth of eleven-point-one percent, marking the company’s largest growth since the 19-point-44 percent it recorded in December 2014.
