Moody's: Summit Declaration to Benefit S. Korea's Credit Rating

Global rating agency Moody's Investors Service has assessed that if inter-Korean reconciliation accelerates following the cross-border summit, geopolitical risks on the Korean Peninsula will be reduced.

In an outlook report on Monday, Moody's Vice President and Senior Credit Officer Christian de Guzman said that this will also positively affect South Korea's sovereign credit rating.

He said the inter-Korean summit declaration is a prelude to more substantive negotiations and an easing of geopolitical tension.

But the official added that despite the agreement on advancing peace reached between the Korean leaders, many uncertainties still remain until tensions between the two Koreas are completely ceased.

Guzman also mentioned complicated concerns involving the United States and China.
