KOSPI Closes 1.10% Higher, Ending at 2,475.64

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index(KOSPI) on Thursday rose 26-point-83 points, or one-point-10 percent, closing the day at two-thousand-475-point-64.  

The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also surged, gaining nine-point-46 points, or one-point-09 percent, to close the day at 879-point-39. 

Foreign investors boosted South Korean stocks as they bought up tech shares, which rose after Samsung Electronics posted a record quarterly profit. 

Market sentiment was also improved by the news that the economy grew one-point-one percent in the first quarter.  

On the foreign exchange, the local currency weakened point-three won against the dollar, ending the session at one-thousand-80-point-nine won.
