Customs Service Probing Collusion Allegations Involving Korean Air

Korea Customs Service is conducting an inspection into allegations of collusion between Incheon Main Customs and Korean Air.

A customs official said Wednesday that the inspection was launched on Tuesday over allegations which had been raised by the media.

This comes amid the ongoing probe into accusations that family members of Hanjin Group, which runs the airline and owned by Cho Yang-ho, smuggled luxury goods into the country and evaded paying taxes.

An official said they have been tipped off about Incheon customs officials not scanning items purchased for the Cho family or charging duties on them.

The customs agency had raided Cho's residence and Korean Air headquarters last week and early this week to shed light on the tax evasion allegations.
