S. Korea's Consumer Sentiment Dips to One-Year Low in April

South Korea's consumer confidence dropped for five consecutive months to hit a one-year low in April.

According to the survey by the Bank of Korea(BOK) on Wednesday, the composite consumer sentiment index for this month stood at 107-point-one, down one point from March.

The index has been slipping for five straight months since November to reach the lowest level since April last year when it hit 100-point-eight.

The central bank attributed the continued fall to U.S.-China trade disputes and negative employment indicators.

The BOK said its index measuring people's sentiments regarding current economic conditions fell one point to 86 in April.

A consumer sentiment index on prospective housing prices in a year's time slid to 101, down six points from the previous month, mainly due to a series of government measures to tighten mortgage regulations.
