Antitrust Watchdog Chief to Meet with CEOs of Top 10 Firms

The head of South Korea's antitrust watchdog is planning to discuss reform on corporate governance with the representatives of the nation’s top ten companies next month.

Fair Trade Commission Chairman Kim Sang-jo and the CEOs are slated to meet on May tenth. It will be Kim's third meeting with major business leaders since he took office last June.

In the two previous meetings, both held last year, the FTC chief emphasized voluntary efforts by large companies to improve corporate governance. During the upcoming meeting, however, he is expected to mainly hear from the CEOs on how they are following up on his request.

In a recent interview, Kim said the FTC will reflect the results of the meeting in a revision to the FTC law that will be submitted to the National Assembly in the second half of the year.
