Unionized workers at South Korean tiremaker Kumho Tire have voted to accept a plan to sell the ailing firm to China's Qingdao Doublestar.

The union supported the proposed sale plan in a vote held at the tiremaker's main plant in Gwangju, Jeolla Province on Sunday. 

The union said in a statement that about 27-hundred union workers participated in the vote, with 60-point-six percent of them supporting the sale plan.
