Public Firms to Hire 28,000 This Year

Public companies highly popular among South Korean job seekers for their job security will hire nearly 30-thousand people this year.

The Ministry of Strategy and Finance on Friday said the level of recruitment at public organizations for this year is expected to be 28-thousand or more, up by five-thousand from its initial prospect.

The expanded job openings at those entities were credited to the government’s temporary easing on its regulations on new recruitment and the companies’ encouragement of early retirement for existing workers.

The government will also increase the number of public firms that conduct recruitment tests on the same day to reduce the number of people landing a job from multiple organizations and thus reduce related social costs.
